The Danger of a Stiff Neck
Acts 7:51-53; Exodus 32:1-9

"Stiff-necked" is a powerful image—an animal that refuses to turn its head, stubborn and unyielding. Stephen confronted his accusers with this truth: they were resisting the Holy Spirit just as their ancestors had. A stiff neck prevents us from looking up to God or turning toward His voice. It's the pride that says, "I know better." It's the stubbornness that refuses correction. It's the obstinacy that clings to sin despite conviction. The Holy Spirit can be grieved, quenched, or resisted. Believers grieve Him through sin. Churches quench Him through control. Unbelievers resist Him through rejection. Where is your neck stiff today? What truth are you refusing to turn toward? Flexibility before God is strength, not weakness. Soften your heart. Turn your face toward Him. Let His Spirit lead you where you've been unwilling to go.
